THE College of Commerce Warri Old Students Association (COCOSA) has celebrated its 80th anniversary with a series of activities, projects and recognitions aimed at promoting unity and development.
The week-long event ran from April 22 to April 26, culminating in a grand finale at Jubilee Conference Centre, Effurun.
Activities lined up for the celebration included a radio programme, a novelty football match and a rally across Warri.
The association also organised cultural displays involving both students and alumni.
A health outreach was conducted, offering medical checks such as blood sugar tests to participants.
National President of COCOSA, Chief Enijuni Kolawole Victor, said the celebration reflected the school’s enduring legacy.
He noted that the institution remains one of the oldest in Warri and its environs.

Victor explained that the association has continued to grow through active participation and renewed commitment from members.
He highlighted welfare initiatives, including provision of school uniforms, sports equipment and library materials.
He also said the association has extended support to the wider community through medical donations to Central Hospital Warri.
Victor said, “During the period under review, this alma mater has continued to witness steady growth and renewed enthusiasm.”
He added that over one million naira has been spent supporting members facing health challenges.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chief Reginald Amadi, described the anniversary as historic and memorable.
He encouraged alumni, especially those in the diaspora, to remain connected to the school.
Amadi said, “This celebration will always be referred to as history and I appreciate members for their resilience.”

He urged guests to support the association’s endowment fund for future projects.
Engineer Isaach Ehwerherume, one of the award recipients, said the event provided an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates.
He described the celebration as a moment of joy and reflection.
The event featured music, dance, spoken word and other cultural performances, bringing the anniversary to a colourful close.
