NYSC Member Slumps, Dies 7 Days Before Passing Out Parade in Zamfara

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Dr. Ibrahim Abdulmumin Adeiza, has reportedly died in Zamfara State just seven days before the end of his mandatory one-year service.

Adeiza, who was serving at Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, reportedly died on May 13, 2026.

According to his friend, Engr. Habibu Nura, the young doctor allegedly slumped around 1:00 p.m. after stepping out with a colleague to buy a plastic bottle. He was said to have passed away about an hour later.

Nura disclosed that the deceased showed no signs of illness before the incident, noting that they had been together laughing and chatting barely an hour before his death.

The Information/Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Zamfara State Government has condoled with the National Youth Service Corps and the family of Dr. Ibrahim Abdulmumin Adeiza, a corps member serving at Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital, who passed away while carrying out his national service duties,” the statement read.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, described the late doctor as “dedicated, hardworking, and committed in saving Humanity,” adding that his death is a huge loss to the health sector and the state.
