AHEAD of Thursday’s gala and award night, Stonix News Reporter and Fact-Checker, Rita Enemuru, has arrived in Accra, Ghana for the Africa Facts Summit.
The vibrant student of the University of Uyo soaring journalist touched down Accra at the wee hours of Wednesday morning via Africa World Airlines.

She had earlier begun the journey from Port Harcourt on Tuesday evening by air to Lagos from where she boarded the AWA airline to Accra.
Recall that Rita was shortlisted for the African Fact-Checking Awards under the Student Journalist category in Ghana.

Her nomination was contained in a mail sent by Africa Facts Summit and made available to Stonix News on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Participants this morning
According to the mail, Rita’s fact-check on: “Claim That Federal Government Has Mandated DNA Test For Newborns Is False, Misleading” published by Stonix News was among the shortlisted fact-checks.
Rita was also invited to participate in the 2024 Africa Facts Summit event which begins today 9th to 10th October 2024.

The Africa Check Summit 2024, which starts today with the theme of the “Countering Misinformation and Disinformation in Africa: Challenges, Innovations and Strategic Responses,” will conclude with the African Fact-Checking Awards gala dinner, where the winners will be announced tomorrow.
The African Fact-Checking Awards, according to Africa Check, is the longest-running awards programme honouring fact-checking journalism by the media in Africa.

The 11th edition of the ward has three categories: Fact-Check of the Year by a Working Journalist, Fact-Check of the Year by a Professional Fact-Checker and Fact-Check of the Year by a Student Journalist which Rita was shortlisted
