According to the statement, Governor Yusuf emphasised that the people of the state eagerly anticipate the cherished tradition of Sallah, which includes wearing new clothes, lining the streets to witness their Emirs on horseback, and exchanging greetings.
He assured that his administration would not relent in upholding this tradition and would not allow any adversaries to deprive citizens of this cultural heritage.
To ensure a smooth celebration, Governor Yusuf confirmed that all security agencies in the state would be engaged to provide adequate protection for the people during the festivities.
Additionally, the Governor announced that the Kano State Emirate Council would be inaugurated in April this year to enable it to function effectively.
He stated that the council’s guidelines, ethics, and other crucial components would be communicated on the day of the inauguration.
Commending the Emirs for their maturity and positive relationship since their appointments, Governor Yusuf noted that this marks the first time in the state’s history where absolute respect among the Emirs, particularly in terms of hierarchy, has been observed.
In response, the Chairman of the Kano Emirate Council, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, affirmed that the relationship between him and the second-class Emirs is exceptionally cordial.
He also urged Governor Yusuf to leverage traditional institutions to effectively disseminate policies and programmes to the grassroots, ensuring seamless and efficient implementation.
On their part, the Emir of Karaye, Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz; the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru; and the Emir of Gaya, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, expressed gratitude on behalf of their people for the provision of fertiliser and infrastructural development in education, health, and road networks within their respective domains.
