Despite enjoying more possession, Nigeria fell behind in the 25th minute when Leonard Ngenge scored an own goal, moments after Ijoma Anthony’s effort was ruled out by VAR for offside.

Just before halftime, Ngenge handled the ball in the penalty area, and Sudan converted from the spot to double their advantage.

Sudan extended their lead in the 55th minute and sealed the emphatic win with a fourth goal seven minutes later, handing Nigeria their heaviest-ever defeat at the CHAN.

The CHAN Eagles will play their final group fixture against Congo in Tanzania.
