Commenting on the recognition, the Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria and the Mid Africa Region, Jim Swartz, said the company’s over 60-year presence in Nigeria reflects its enduring contribution to national growth and development through long-term human and social investments.
“We recognise that the success of the larger society invariably translates into success for our business, and we believe it is in our long-term interest to add value to society as we create value for our stakeholders,” Swartz said.
He added that Chevron remains committed to providing affordable, reliable and increasingly cleaner energy as part of efforts to build a more prosperous and sustainable world.
Swartz further highlighted Chevron’s contributions to the sustainable development of host communities in the Niger Delta through its legacy Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU), the Host Community Development Trusts (HCDTs) established under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, and the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND).
