Rita Enemuru, Reporting

The management of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has reviewed upwards the fees for processing and collection of certificates and transcripts for both graduates and undergraduates by 20 per cent.

This was disclosed in an internal memo with number DELSU/REG/M.170, dated February 14, 2022 and signed on behalf of the Registrar by S. O. Onaibre, sighted by Stonix News.

The 20 per cent upward review of the rates also affected both local and foreign students of the institution.

The memo further stated that the upward review was made after considering a proposal contained in an earlier memo dated February 4, 2022 and signed by the Registrar Mrs. R.U Ufiofio.

The registrar stated in the memo that there shall be review of results, certificate folder, letter of identification and letter of attestation for PhD, Masters, First Degree and Diploma courses.

The memo reads in part; “To recall that Management at its meeting held on Thursday, 10 February, 2022, considered a memo with ref no DHLSIRKENST/34, dated 4 February, 2022, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. R.U. Ufiofio on the above mentioned subject and noted that there is the need for the upward review of the existing rates for the insurance of the aforementioned documents”

“The above decisions of Management are hereby conveyed to the Bursar for his information, guidance and further necessary action” it stated.”

Breaking down the rates in tabular form, the registrar said the certificate processing, which was formerly N10,000, now goes N40,000 and N30,000 for postgraduates and undergraduates respectively.

She said Certificate Folder, English Proficiency and Attestation Letter rates are now N10,000, N20,000 and N20,000 each.

The rate of transcript, which used to be N30,000 and N10,000 for foreign and local students, now goes for N50,000 and 30,000 respectively, among others.
