Delta Police Command Honours 100 Promoted Officers


THE Delta State Police Command marked a joyous occasion on 2nd January 2025 as 100 newly-promoted officers were decorated at the Police Officers’ Mess, State Headquarters, Asaba. 

The ceremony, presided over by Commissioner of Police (CP) Olufemi Abaniwonda, celebrated the hard work and dedication of officers across various ranks.

CP Abaniwonda carried out the decorations on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, alongside other senior management officials.

Among those honoured were Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ado Ibrahim, Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) Sadiq M. Mana and Maiyaki Joyce Mathew, as well as several Commanders and Admin Officers.

Their promotions highlighted contributions in critical roles, such as the State Criminal Investigation Department and divisional policing in Ughelli and Kwale.

Other decorated officers included leaders of the Rapid Response Squad and the Crack Squad, reflecting a diverse range of operational excellence within the Command.

In his address, CP Abaniwonda congratulated the officers and emphasised the responsibilities that come with their new ranks.

He reminded them that the reward for hard work is more work, urging them to double their efforts in service to the Inspector General of Police and the public.

The event was described as a testament to the Command’s commitment to recognising and rewarding excellence.

The decorated officers, spanning ranks from Deputy Superintendent of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police, were praised for their dedication and contributions to maintaining law and order in Delta State.

The event concluded with officers pledging to uphold the trust placed in them. It served as both a celebration of achievements and a call to greater service, ensuring the continued safety and security of the state.
