THE Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested another suspect with 576 ATM cards at the Mallam Aminu International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, Kano State.
The suspect was identified as Khalil Bashir Lawal.
Stonix News gathered on Tuesday that he was intercepted on Monday, December 20, 2021, by operatives of the commission.
The EFCC operatives were assisted by officials of the Nigeria Aviation Security and the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) under the Special Task Force on Money Laundering.
Khalil, who was arrested while traveling to Uganda with Ethiopian Airline, had allegedly concealed 576 ATM cards bearing different names and banks in his luggage.
Although no official was got in this respect, the suspect, it was gathered, will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
Stonix News, however, recalls that the anti-graft agency had arrested three suspects at the Kano Airport between November 24 and December 1, 2021 while they were trying to smuggle out a total of 1,144 ATM cards.
The suspects were later convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment each by a Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Jamilu Shehu on December 20, 2021.
