IN a significant show of goodwill, the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA), has publicly commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for what they describe as his “exemplary leadership” and commitment to their welfare.
The gratitude was formally expressed in a letter dated 15th January 2026, signed by the association’s President, Dr. George Ebong, and General Secretary, Dr. Yusuf Israel Lissa.
The doctors highlighted two key financial interventions as proof of the minister’s dedication: the full payment of longstanding 13 months of hazard allowance arrears and the disbursement of one month’s wage award. These payments, they stated, address critical and long-pending concerns regarding the recognition of health workers’ sacrifices.
“This timely intervention underscores your dedication to equity, fairness, and the recognition of the sacrifices made by doctors and other health workers in the course of service in the FCTA,” the letter reads.
The association pledged its continued partnership with the FCT Administration, vowing to “remain committed to constructive engagement and collaboration in advancing the FCT Health sector and ensuring the continued delivery of quality healthcare services to the populace.”
The letter also extended appreciation to other senior officials for their roles in facilitating the payments. Those acknowledged include the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud; the Acting Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan; and several permanent secretaries and directors within the health and administrative secretariats.
The public commendation marks a notable moment of collaboration between the doctors’ body and the FCT leadership, potentially signalling a period of improved industrial relations within the capital’s critical healthcare sector.
