Some gunmen have shot dead a yet-to-be-identified police officer at Eke Oko, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident occured on Sunday, 15th May, 2022 at about 6:10p.m.
The victim was said to be riding on his motorcycle when he was intercepted along the road by the unknown gunmen and shot him dead.
As of the time of this report, the corpse of the officer was still lying on the ground along the road while road users scampered to safety as a result of the gunshot.
Aguata is the local government area of Governor of the state, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, which has come under serious attacks by unknown gunmen shortly after he declared war on them.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, has not reacted to the incident, saying the unidentified person killed by gunmen in Anambra State is a police officer.
According to him, “the Anambra State Police Operatives on 15/5/2022 have recovered a lifeless body in an NPF T-shirt found along Oko expressway
“Preliminary information shows that the yet-to-be-identified body is not a member of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Meanwhile, investigation has begun to unravel the identity of the deceased and perpetrators of the murder.
“Further development shall be communicated please,” he disclosed in a statement made available to journalists.
