A female lecturer with the Department of Biochemistry, School of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, Dr. (Mrs) Adefolalu Funmilola Sherifat, has been found dead with throat slit in her residence in the Gbaiko Area of the town.
The chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) in the school, Professor Gbolahan Bolarin, confirmed the development to journalists.
Professor Bolarin said her slaughtered body was found on Sunday morning in her house when her church members did not see her in church.
The door of her house was forced open and she was found in the pool of her blood with her throat slit and knives found beside her.
Police authorities later moved the remains to the mortuary.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, said further information about the incident would be made available in due course.
Some of the deceased’s neighbours, the late varsity teacher’s husband, who was a professor in the same school, reportedly passed recently.
Until her death, she was staying with a female house help but laid off the girl on Friday, they added.
