Members of his family are at a loss on whether Robert died a natural death, or not in his room in a hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.

Robert Onyejekwe had lived in Houston with his wife and children where he had a thriving Oil & Gas business until he ventured to have a business in Nigeria.

In a story scooped from WhatsApp platforms, the young man had recently arrived in Lagos to sort out issues with his oil and gas business domiciled in Lagos.

According to the viral post, Robert had allegedly noticed that the person he placed in charge of the oil and gas outfit was short-changing him.

On his arrival, he reportedly fixed a Board Meeting against Thursday (June 13) so that the Managing Director believed to be behind the underhand activities would hand over the affairs of the company to him.

Unfortunately, that was not to be because on Sunday June 9, before the scheduled Thursday Board Meeting, Onyejekwe was found lifeless in his hotel room in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The post reads: “Guy in the middle is Robert Onyejekwe (from Onitsha). Lives in Houston and successful in Oil & Gas. Just hosted his annual OTC party in Houston.

“Came to Naija for a meeting, went to his hotel room in Ikoyi to rest in between mtgs. Found dead yesterday evening. 51 years old.✨

Be careful who you do business with in Naija.”

Meanwhile, sources from his base in Houston said he was hale and hearty when he left the US for Nigeria, and had just hosted his annual Over The Counter (OTC) meeting.

Stonix News reports that until recently, Onyejekwe was the Global Director, Sales and Commercial for the Reservoir and Infrastructure group for Schlumberger.

He was also responsible for the deal origination and growth play strategies for eight business product lines focused on market maximization and penetration.

Onyejekwe bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the premier university, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, an MBA from the University of Rotterdam, Netherlands, and a diploma in Finance from the IMD University, Switzerland.
