AN insane, fatal road crash has claimed no fewer than 19 lives out of 20 passengers at Kilometre 3, Sabo, Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway, Oyo State.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday, involved a Sokoto-bound white Toyota HIACE 18 seater bus with Registration Number NTT 522 ZY and a black Toyota salon car.
The victims reportedly died on the spot while the only survivor was receiving medical treatment at Opabode Hospital, Oyo.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye, blamed the accident on total disregard for the traffic law.
“The incident involved a Sokoto bound commercial bus and Corolla salon car.
“It happened at 7:45 p.m at Kilometre 3, Sabo area along the Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway.
“Out of the 20 passengers on board the two affected vehicles, 19 died on the spot while the survivor is receiving medical attention at the neighbourhood hospital.
“The corpses of the victims have been deposited at the General Hospital Oyo.
“The drivers of the two vehicles were among the victims who died on the spot.
“The deceased driver of the Toyota HIACE was on the wrong lane to Oyo and collided with the Toyota Corolla salon car,” he disclosed.
The sector commander appealed to the road users to always be conscious of the traffic rules.
