How Sanusi Learned About His Reinstatement

DETAILS have emerged on how the deposed Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) learnt about his reinstatement by Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State.

The reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, was said to be in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on the occasion of the state’s Economic and Investment Summit on Thursday.

He reportedly hurriedly left Port Harcourt shortly after delivering his keynote speech at the summit having earlier, in the middle of delivering his address, the news about his reinstatement filtered into the air.

Immediately the news broke, the security architecture around him took a different dimension as of the time he was exiting the Obi Wali International Conference Centre venue of the summit in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has congratulated Sanusi II on his reinstatement as the 14th Emir of Kano.

Fubara, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, said that he received the news of the reinstatement of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with great excitement, particularly coming at a time Khalifa Sanusi II was in the state to add impetus to his administration’s initiative to reshape the economic direction of the state.

He noted that Sanusi’s reinstatement by the Kano State government showed that his dethronement on March 9, 2020, was not a popular decision.
