Hunger: How Mad Rush For Palliative Claimed 2 Students

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

A mad rush for palliative being shared has reportedly claimed two students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, while 23 have been hospitalised.

The Head of Information of the school, Abraham Habu, made the disclosure via a telephone conversation to Channels Television on Friday.

Habu noted that school had received palliative from the state government to distribute to the students to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship.

“Today, the distribution of palliatives at the school’s convocation arena turned chaotic when certain students overwhelmed the security, leading to a stampede that resulted in fatalities and injuries as they seized the food items,” he lamented.

Habu added that normalcy has returned and the 23 students are receiving medical attention.

Recall that, the Nasarawa State government had early, in the week, launched the distribution of palliatives to students of tertiary institutions in the state.
