UNARMED members of the public on Sunday broke into the warehouse of the Nigerian Emergency Agency (NEMA), Abuja, in broad daylight, looting food items in sight in their wake.
Stonix News reports that the warehouse is located in Gwagwa town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Mammoth hungry youths broke into the warehouse located around Tasha area of the community around 7:00 a.m and carted away bags of maize and grains.
Hungry neighbours from Jiwa and Karmo towns who learnt of the development also trooped to the site to have their fill.
The situation, it was gathered, led to a grid lock on Gwagwa-Karmo road, which leads to the Dei-Dei and Jabi axis, respectively.
A resident of the area, Christopher Agbo, told Daily Trust, that the looters did not spare even iron protectors used to barricade the site as they picked anything deemed useful from the warehouse.
It will be recalled that the warehouse was also looted at the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 with bags of grains and pumping machines meant for intervention looted.
As of 9:00a.m on Sunday, there was no presence of security operatives, but the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police were already on the ground to secure the facility.
