A fatal shooting occurred in northeast Houston on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a man.
The incident, it was gathered, took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Kelly Street near Lockwood Drive.
According to police, the victim was walking with his pregnant wife to a homeless shelter after her hospital release.
The wife’s grandmother and uncle approached them, attempting to take the wife away.
The husband resisted, leading to a struggle. During this altercation, the uncle allegedly shot the husband in the stomach.
The victim, believed to be in his 30s, died at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the wife’s family disapproved of her relationship with the victim and attempted to separate them.
The uncle, who drove the couple to the hospital earlier, is cooperating with the investigation.
The district attorney’s office will determine whether charges will be filed.
The couple has four children together, who did not reside with them at the homeless shelter as they sought permanent housing.
