DIVINE Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, the talented musician behind the hit song “Calm Down,” has shared his thoughts on parenthood and relationships.

He emphasized that he has no intention of becoming a father by accident and values intentional relationships.

Rema expressed his desire to build a lasting legacy with his family, stating that he wants to create an “empire” rather than waiting for an unplanned pregnancy to occur.

He also confessed that he is selective and avoids casual relationships.

“I feel like there’s a need for us (family) to get bigger and become a whole empire if we can. And then neither do I want to wait for it to become a mistake before I decide to be a father. I am very particular and I don’t really be h*eing around,” he said.

Regarding his personal life, Rema clarified his connections with fellow musicians Ayra Starr and Tyla.

He referred to Ayra Starr’s family as his own and described Tyla as a close friend, describing their friendship as predating his rise to fame.

“Ayra is family for sure. Tyla is family. We’re good friends because I’ve been friends with Tyla even before everything,” he said.

Born on May 1, 2000, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, Rema is a singer, songwriter, and rapper who’s been making waves in the music industry.

Rema’s music style is a unique blend of Afrobeats, rap, and “Afrorave,” a genre he’s pioneered.

He rose to fame with his debut single “Dumebi” and later gained international recognition with his hit song “Calm Down,” which featured Selena Gomez on the remix. The song was a massive success, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earning platinum plaques in several countries.
