JUST last Friday, I was on my way to work when I witnessed a scene that made me slightly emotional.
The weather was cold because it rained heavily the previous day; in fact, the cloud was still misty. Everyone would have preferred to linger on their bed and enjoy the warmth it brings but then, most people had to run off to work.

As I made my way to the park, where I would board a taxi, I saw a man with two young children- a boy and a girl. The children were obviously going to school as they were in uniforms. The trio were engaged in some tete-a-tete. I had no intention of eavesdropping but their conversation strayed to my ears.

The children were telling the man, who appeared to be their dad, the things they needed in school. When the man said ‘You have CCA on Tuesday.’ I guessed they were telling him what they would be needing at school. The last part of the conversation I heard was the ‘dad’ saying ‘I will try’.
‘I will try.’ Those were the words of assurance from the father to his children.
As I continued my journey, I couldn’t brush off that encounter; it kept replaying in my head.
That was just a pointer to the sacrifices most parents make for their children. Whether they have or not, parents have a way of providing for their children, even when it is far from convenient for them.
Most parents go out of their way to ensure they give the best to their children.
My heart goes out to all parents today- The good Lord will reward all your labour of love and sacrifices over your children. The Lord will bless the works of your hands and supply your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. You will not labour in vain.
For every errant child causing pains and tears to their parents, the merciful God will encounter them and turn their lives around. Your joy will be full over your children. Amen.
