A Southern African Python that was injured earlier this week in Lusaka’s southern Vorna Valley has successfully undergone surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

Stonix News learnt that the snake sustained two wounds following an encounter with a gardener. After an initial examination and X-rays, veterinarians confirmed that the python had no broken ribs and that its lungs were unaffected, easing fears of serious internal injuries.
Dr. Mudenda, a specialist in tropical wildlife, led the surgical procedure, during which the wounds were cleaned and stitched.

The medical team also conducted a full skin inspection and removed about 15 ticks from the reptile.

Snake Safety Zambia said the python is responding well to treatment and will continue on antibiotics, with a medical review scheduled for Monday.
The organization reported that the surgery and aftercare have so far cost K2,500.

The group has appealed to the public for financial support to cover the expenses of the rescue and rehabilitation.
