PASSENGERS on board of a privately-owned aircraft including the serving minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, have narrowly escaped being killed on Friday evening as their aircraft crashed into the bush at the Ibadan Airport, Alakia area of Oyo State capital.
There was neither reported loss of lives nor property as men of the State Fire Services, Federal Fire Services, and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Fire Services in a combined service were on ground.
The aircraft took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the State Fire Service, Yemi Adeyimika said, “Yes, it is true, Our men are on their way but I don’t have details now.
He said that his men arrived the scene of the incident on time but met other fire services from other agencies on ground.
What could have resulted in monumental loss was timely averted.
There was neither loss of lives or property as the situation has been put under control.
Meanwhile, a statement obtained by Stonix News on Saturday detailing the incident has it that the aircraft was airborne Abuja at 6:41p.m and crashed into the bush short of the runway at about 7:21p.m.
The statement reads thus:
Good evening sir.
*CRASHING OF A HS25 AIRCRAFT OPERATED BY FLINT AERO SHORT OF THE RUNWAY IN IBADAN ON 3RD NOVEMUBER, 2023.*
*TIME: 1921*
Sir, an Aircraft operated by FLINT AERO that departed Abuja to Ibadan crashed short of the Runway in Ibadan.
Aircraft detail are;
CALL SIGN: 5NAMM
TYPE: HS25B
POINT OF DEPARTURE: ABUJA
DESTINATION: IBADAN
PERSONS ON BOARD: 10-3
Aircraft was airborne Abuja at 1841 and crashed into the bush short of the Runway at about 1921utc.
No fatalities but the Aircraft is sustained substantial damage.
The pilot was cleared for RNAV approach Runway 22.
However all passengers and crew safely evacuated.
