Nigeria Police Bans Officers From Demanding Custom Papers, Tinted Permit

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

THE Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has ordered its officers across Nigeria to stop demanding Customs papers from drivers on the road.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, issued the directive via his confirmed Twitter handle last weekend.

Adejobi added that the issuance of tinted glass permits remained suspended.

He also said officers were only expected to stop such vehicles with tinted glass, search them as well as the occupants.

“No policeman,” he warned, “should demand your customs papers. Except they are on joint operation, but not just on mere routine checks.”

According to him, “We have suspended issuance of tinted glass permits, so we don’t expect our men to disturb Nigerians on this.

“We are to stop any vehicle with tints, search the vehicles, and its occupants, but not to delay for not having tinted glass permits.”

The FPRO, who’s a Chief Superintendent of Police, further urged Nigerians and other road users to report personnel who delay them on the road.
