A fatal autocrash has claimed a yet-to-be-accounted number of 500-level Accounting students of the Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.
The crash occurred along Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo road on Wednesday evening while the students were returning from an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State.
Stonix News gathered that the bus conveying the students caught fire in the process, though amid details of the remote causes of the incident.
Meanwhile, LAUTECH’s school Public Relations Officer, Mr Lekan Fadeyi, who confirmed the accident, said lives were lost in the accident.
He, however, could not ascertain the exact number of fatalities or the injured.
“I can confirm to you that there was an accident while some students passed on, but I have not gotten the details of their identities,” the school image maker said.
The Students’ Union President of the institution, Anuoluwa Adeboye, who expressed grief over the incident, said the students had organised an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall after their first semester exam as part of their activities as final year students.
