Oba Akoko Set For Colourful 32nd Day Celebration In September


THE people of Oba Akoko Kingdom are gearing up for the 32nd edition of the Oba Akoko Day Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, 13th September 2025, at the Baptist Day Primary School Playground.

Stonix News reports that Oba Akoko serves as the lush gateway into Akokoland, especially for travellers approaching from the Akure and Benin axis of South-Western Nigeria.

Organised by the Oba Akoko Development Committee (ODC) under the chairmanship of Otunba Charles Alaba Alabi, the annual cultural festival is expected to be a grand affair, showcasing the rich traditions, music, dance, and communal spirit of the kingdom.

In a statement signed by ODC Secretary, Olulede Favour, and P.R.O, Sunday Felix Ibasanmi, the committee described the festival as “a unique opportunity to honour our past, celebrate the present, and build a brighter future for Oba Akoko.”

According to the ODC, this year’s celebration promises to be memorable, not only for its cultural displays but also for the chance it offers indigenes, families, businesses, and well-wishers to participate through goodwill adverts in the official programme.

“We warmly invite all individuals, families, businesses, associations, and well-wishers to seize the opportunity to place adverts in our official event programme,” the statement read. “This is a unique platform to showcase your goodwill, promote your brand, honour loved ones, or celebrate the spirit of our vibrant cultural heritage.”

Advertisement rates have been pegged at ₦50,000 for a full page, ₦30,000 for a half page, and ₦10,000 for a quarter page.

Expressing confidence in the success of the festival, Otunba Alabi urged all sons and daughters of Oba Akoko to join hands in making the celebration colourful and impactful.

“Let us come together in unity to honour our past, celebrate the present, and build a brighter future for Oba Akoko. Your presence and contribution would greatly enrich our celebration and contribute to the success of the event,” he said.

The festivities are scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m., with the ODC assuring guests of a vibrant, joyous, and memorable experience.
