Operatives Arrest Four Internet Fraudsters Over Abduction Of Colleague

OPERATIVES of the Ogun State Police Command have on Monday, 26th of December, 2022, arrested four suspected Internet fraudsters, for allegedly abducting their colleague over sharing of proceeds.

Following an information received by the Owode Egba Divisional Police Headquarters, the suspects, Oladapo Dolapo (m), Yetunde Shonola (f), Agbe Simeon (m) and Messiah Nicky (f), were said to have allegedly abducted one Haruna Usman on Thursday, 22nd of December, 2022, and has since then, being held hostage somewhere in Orile Imo, before the culprits were apprehended.

Upon the distress call, the Division Police Officer Owode Egba, CSP Popoola Olasunkanmi, immediately mobilised his men and stormed the hideout, where four of the abductors were arrested.

After due investigations, it was revealed that the fraudsters, Haruna inclusive, are members of an Internet fraud syndicate, who had recently defrauded a yet to be identified victim of the sum of twenty-six million, four hundred and fifty-seven thousand, nine hundred and fifty naira (N26,437,950), but the victim, Haruna Usman, only gave the sum of two thousand, two hundred naira (N2,200) to his colleagues, after he claimed the money had not been paid completely by the client.

His colleagues lured him to a herbalist’s home in Orile Imo, and also threatened to kill him if he does not give them their complete share.

CP Lanre Bankole

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has released a statement, directing the suspects to be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
