Three policemen from Okpanam Division of the Delta Police Command has been reportedly ambushed and killed by suspected members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPoB).
The incident happened at about 4:00a.m on Sunday at Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State an incident report obtained by Stonix News noted.
According to the report, the policemen were on their way to attend to a distress call made by one Ruji that a vigilance group in his street was under attack.
The policemen, ASP Eke Francis, INPRS Joshua Akengbo and CPL Perekedo Unene, were allegedly shot at by the suspected armed members who had ostensibly laid an ambush.
The suspected IPoB/ESN group was allegedly led by one Okputo.
After opening fire on the patrol van and killing three cops in the process, the gunmen also made away with two AK47 rifles.
However, one of the cops, one APS Bassey Wisdom and some vigilante men who only sustained injuries have been admitted in a hospital.
No official statement has been released on the attack by the Delta Police Command.
