Police Arrest 80-Yr-Old Man, Female Dealing In Arms, Ammunition, 51 Suspected Cultists

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested an 80-year-old cartridge dealer, one Omoraka James, a female gun dealer and 51 cult members in Delta State.

This was contained in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bright Edafe and made available to Stonix News on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

DSP Edafe stated that 114 round of live cartridges was recovered from the premises of the octogenarian which led to his arrest in Kokori during a raid carried out by the command.

The statement affirmed that acting on the information of Eiye Confraternity (cult group) anniversary celebration, 51 suspected cultists were arrested at Big Apple Hotel in Ogwashi-Uku on Wednesday, June 15.

DSP Edafe added that the suspects were transferred to the Command Anti-Cult unit (SACU) for investigation, and those found wanting will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

In the same vein, one Mrs Victoria Itila was also arrested when six locally made double barrel guns concealed in her umbrella were discovered during a stop and search along Sapele-Benin Express way by Eagle Net Special Squad on the same day.

The Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali while urging parents and guardians to teach and monitor their wards on the need to stay away from social vices, warned that the Command will not tolerate cult related activities in the state under his watch the statement asserted.
