OPERATIVES of Zamfara State Police Command have rescued a two-month-old baby and 11 other kidnapped victims from kidnappers‘ den in Rungawa village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims, who have been in captivity for a month, were rescued by Police Tactical Operatives attached to 42 PMF Squadron Gusau on Monday, August 30, 2022.
As contained in a statement signed by Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, the rescue was carried out while acting on intelligence report.
The statement stated that the victims, who were kidnapped by armed bandit/terrorists led by one Bello Maibille and taken to Kare Kukanka fores, were rescued unhurt.
The rescue was made in line with the mandate given to the new Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Kolo Yusuf by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, to restore a lasting peace.
The statement confirmed that they were medically checked before being handed over to their families.
While congratulating the families of the rescued for their safe return, the Commissioner of Police, Cp Mr. Kolo Yusuf enjoined members of the state to be security conscious and report suspicious characters to the police or any security agency for prompt action.
