THE Divisional Police Officer of Isanlu, CSP Kanwaf James, has issued a stark warning of imminent attacks on churches in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The intelligence, described as credible and obtained from concerned citizens, indicates that criminal groups operating within Yagba East and West have finalised plans to unleash deadly assaults on worship centres in the area.
In an official letter dated addressed to the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Yagba East, the police called for immediate action to prevent what could become a tragic series of events.

The DPO urged church leaders to alert their congregations and put internal security measures in place, particularly deploying Boys Brigade members during services to prevent surprise attacks.
The letter read thus: “Credible intelligent report from concerned Citizen at the disposal of the Nigeria Police reveals that criminal elements operating within Yagba East and West Local Government Areas of Kogi State have concluded plans to launch a deadly attack on churches in Yagba East LGA any moment from now.
“In view of that, you are hereby intimated to intensify efforts in disseminating the information to all churches in Yagba East, to be vigilant and security conscious in order to avert their nefarious activities.
“The internal security personnel of the churches such as boys Brigade should be planted within the Church premises during Sunday or any other day Service to prevent any form of sudden attack. Also, all night programme or activities should be suspended or limited for the time being.
“The Nigeria Police in Yagba East LGA is using this medium to solicit for the support of members of the Public in the area of provision of useful intelligent information that will help police in combating crime and criminality in Yagba East.
CSP James also appealed to the public for support, urging residents to report any suspicious activity or information that could aid in thwarting the planned attacks. “We need the community’s help now more than ever,” he stated.
