PREPARATIONS are in top gear as the burial programme of the mother of Head, Department of English, University of Ibadan, Professor Olutoyin ‘Bimpe Jegede, Chief (Mrs) Ayanyoyin Lakunle, is out.
Announcement of the four-day funeral, tagged: “Celebration of Life,” is contained in an invitation card spotted by Stonix News on Monday, April 3, 2023.

According to the flyer, the families of Ayansiji-Atilola and Lakunle are inviting the public to the burial ceremony of their wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend, Chief (Mrs) Ayanyoyin Lakunle.
Funeral of the 95-year-old matriarch of the Lakunle Dynasty begins on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at 11.00 a.m with a Commendation Service at
Victoryland Baptist Church, Opp. Army Barracks, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Her lying-in-state will hold on Thursday May 18, 2023 at 2.00p.m, at her Residence at Lakunle-Morafa Street, Afote Area, Saki, Oyo State.

Celebration of Life
A Wake-Keep Service will be held same Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 4.00p.m at the First Baptist Church, Oke Adagba, Saki, Oyo State.
Mama’s Burial Service proper is slated for the First Baptist Church, Oke Adagba, Saki, Oyo State, on Friday May 19, 2023 at 10.00a.m, and will be swiftly followed by the reception and entertainment of guests at OYSADEP Saki, Oyo State.
The four-day farewell ceremony for Chief Mrs Ayanyoyin Abeje Lakunle will climax on Sunday May 21, 2023 at 10.00 a.m with a Thanksgiving Service at Victoryland Baptist Church, Opp. Army Barracks, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Earlier, Professor Mrs Jegede, a Professor of Literature-In-English, had notified her PhD supervisees of the passing of her mother in a WhatsApp message on January 12, 2023.

According to the erudite professor fondly called Mama by her numerous students and admirers, Chief Ayanyoyin Lakunle, who lived a fulfilled life, passed peacefully on January 11, 2023 at Mercyland Hospital, Ibadan/Ife Expressway.
“Dear colleagues, in everything, we give thanks.
“This is to announce the glorious homecall of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Chief Mrs Ayanyoyin Mofoluwaso Lakunle at a good old age of 95 years.
“The event of her passing occured on 11 January, 2023 at Mercyland Hospital, Ibadan/Ife expressway.
“While thanking God for a life well spent, further announcements will be made on the obsequies.
“Thank you, and God bless.
Prof. Olutoyin Jegede for the family,” she had disclosed.
Meanwhile, some of her students undergoing their PhD under her supervision at the Department of English, University of Ibadan, have commiserated with Prof Jegede and families over the glorious exit of their matriarch.
Reacting to the transition, Ebenezer Adurokiya stated: “…Wow! Just yesterday. Condolences, ma. What a life well-lived! Mama’s memories are blessed. Mama’s descendants shall enjoy more longevity in good health and prosperity. It is well, ma.”
On his part, Akintunde simply quipped: “Wow! May God bless her memory and rest her soul. Condolences ma’am.”
Tolulope Akinrinde, another supervisee, enthused: “Waoh!
May God give her eternal peace and continually be with the family she left behind. My condolences, ma.”
Astonished Mope Olayiwola has this to say: “…do accept my heart felt condolences ma. Olorun a te won si afefe rere ni Oruko Jesu. Just yesterday I still looked at the beautiful pictures taken on 90th her birthday. The Lord grant her soul eternal rest. Mama affected lives positively so her memories are blessed, eku atemora ma.”
“My dearest teacher, valued mentor and professor, auntie mee, accept my candid condolences, ma. Mama lived well. It shall be well with you and all that Mama left behind,” another supervisee, Debo, prayed.
