PTI Students Urged to Utilise Education Loans

THE newly-appointed Principal and Chief Executive of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Nigeria, Engr. Dr. Samuel Onoji, has urged students to take full advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to alleviate financial difficulties.

Dr. Onoji made the call during a recent visit by the Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, and his team to the PTI in Effurun.

He emphasised that NELFUND was established to provide financial support to students across Nigeria, making it vital for PTI students to utilise this opportunity.

Addressing the students, Akintunde Sawyerr explained that NELFUND is accessible to both new and continuing students in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

He assured that the funds would be disbursed promptly upon successful application.

“The loan offers financial support for tuition fees, other charges, and upkeep during studies in approved tertiary or vocational institutions in Nigeria,” Sawyerr noted.

He encouraged students to take advantage of NELFUND’s offerings to improve their welfare while studying, highlighting that the Federal Government initiative anticipates benefiting around 2.1 million students.

Sawyerr disclosed that, to date, NELFUND has disbursed over N104 billion to 613,734 students in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

He explained that the disbursed funds include institutional fees paid directly to schools and upkeep allowances deposited into students’ provided bank accounts.
