Rivers CP Orders Manhunt For Killers Of ASP

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

Following the ambush and killing of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Chris Josiah while returning from work, police authorities have ordered a manhunt for his killers.

Stonix News reports that some gunmen had, on Wednesday, June 28, ambushed and slayed the senior cop who was on his way back from work.

The development was contained in a press statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP), Grace Iringe-Koko and made available to Stonix News on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

The statement narrated that ASP Josiah was murdered in his Lexus RX 300 SUV by five yet-to-be-identified armed masked men along the Assemblies of God Church, Obeama Community, Oyigbo Local Government Area, Rivers State.

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Eboka Friday, who ordered a massive deployment of personnel and full-scale investigation across Oyigbo community, to fish out the perpetrators and to bring them to justice, described the killing as gruesome.

“This is coming on the heels of the gruesome murder of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Chris Josiah, attached to Afam Divisional Police Headquarters in the evening of 28th June 2022, while returning home after work.

“The deceased Officer was ambushed by five yet-to-be-identified armed masked men, who opened fire at the Officer along Assemblies of God Church, Obeama Community, Oyigbo, and shot him dead inside his Lexus RX 300 SUV.

“The Commissioner of Police has equally ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident with a view to unraveling the remote and immediate cause of the attack and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” the statement noted.

CP Eboka, however, warned that further attacks on police officers tasked with the protection of lives and property would not be tolerated by the police authority.
