IN a gesture to spread festive cheer, the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a Christmas bonus of N100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state.
The announcement, made on 23 December 2024, underscores the governor’s commitment to the well-being of the people.
The bonus, which will benefit workers in various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as well as retirees in both the civil and public sectors, is aimed at ensuring a joyful Christmas celebration.
The directive for immediate implementation was issued to guarantee timely disbursement ahead of the festive season.
This marks the second time during Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants in Rivers State are receiving a yuletide bonus of this magnitude.
However, this year is particularly significant as pensioners are being included for the first time, reflecting an expanded commitment to inclusivity.
The N100,000 bonus surpasses the nation’s minimum wage, highlighting the governor’s “Rivers First” philosophy, which prioritises the welfare and happiness of Rivers residents.
The initiative aligns with the administration’s broader efforts to secure the economic and social well-being of the populace.
Signed by Dr George Nwaeke, the Head of Civil Service, the announcement reaffirms the administration’s dedication to fostering a culture of appreciation and support for those who contribute to the state’s development.
