PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has submitted a ₦1.48 trillion budget proposal for the Rivers State Government to the National Assembly for approval.
This came on Thursday in spite of growing criticisms over the unconstitutionality of the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state.
The president stated that the budget was necessary due to the Supreme Court’s nullification of the state’s 2025 budget and because Rivers State is currently under emergency rule.
The proposed budget allocates ₦324 billion for infrastructure, ₦166 billion for health, ₦75.6 billion for education, and ₦31.4 billion for agriculture.
President Tinubu added that the agriculture sector is expected to create, approximately, 6,000 jobs.
He, therefore, urged the National Assembly to, swiftly, pass the budget for the benefit of the state and its residents.
