THE inauguration of the modern Divisional Police Station in Ugborikoko, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, marks a watershed moment in public-private partnership for national security. Indeed, the new police division is equipped with comprehensive infrastructure: two operational Hilux vehicles, a 30kVA soundproof generator, a parallel 30kVA solar system, CCTV surveillance, computer systems, air conditioning, fully furnished conference and interrogation rooms, and more. These investments directly enhance the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force in the area.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, represented by AIG Salman-Dogo Garba, praised Tantita’s initiative as a landmark contribution. “This facility is not just where officers will work,” he said. “It will be a hub for positive engagement between the police and the people — a cornerstone for building safer communities.”

By securing oil pipelines and curbing crude oil theft since August 2022, the company has helped boost national production from under 700,000 barrels per day to 1.7 million. “There’s potential to hit 2 million barrels per day by year’s end,” Pondi revealed — a feat with far-reaching implications for revenue generation and foreign investment.

Pondi’s call for greater stakeholder involvement — from state governors to oil operators — highlights the need for shared responsibility in national security. “Better security leads to better productivity, and that in turn drives infrastructural development like the one we see today,” he asserted.
