TROOPS of the Nigerian Army say it has successfully neutralized two of the bandits who attacked its men at a check-point in Mgbidi, Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State.
The soldiers said they were able to withstand the suspected IPOB/ESN members who came in their numbers shooting sporadically at them.
Two of the suspects were gunned down and one of their A.K 47 rifles and a Walkie-talkie was recovered.
The bandits also had charms and amulets tied round their waists and chests.
The report said two soldiers were also injured during the gun battle and are currently receiving treatment at a military facility.
Other members of the group reportedly fled the scene.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Army, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze Captain Joseph Akubo, said an official statement would be issued by the Director, Nigerian Army Information, Abuja Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.
