PROFESSOR Joseph Anthony Orighomisan Wood was last Monday caught on camera accosting a female student, Morola Esther Odufuwa, for allegedly skating in the University of Ibadan campus.

Stonix News reports that activities on the campus have been on a low following the eight-month old industrial action members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have embarked on since February 14.
Amid sketchy details, Prof. Wood, of the Department of Chemistry, who had his Inaugural Lecture in March 2019, was said to have insisted in dragging the lady to the UI security department for a possible reprimand.
Video of the incident has since gone viral on the social media as well as major electronic media such as Arise News TV, with former students lodging complaints of their previous unpleasant encounters with the Professor of Inorganic Chemistry on the social media.
He has allegedly “used a course called CHE 126, 226….to destroy people’s lives,” a former student, who also works in the institution, told our reporter.
In one of the video footages, the elderly lecturer, who’s been off the classrooms for eight months owing to ASUU strike, was heard saying loudly: “how many of these (skates) are with them (security men), they’d tell you. Pleads stop all this rubbish,” he retorted, while rebuffing pleas from a third party to let the lady go.
“I can’t have conversation with you. The only conversation I can have with you is give me this and meet me at the security office. Give it to me and then follow me to the security,” he further retorted while grabbing firmly the left bicep of the lady with his right fist.
Professor Wood was further seen and heard insisting angrily: ‘Give it to me. I don’t want to rough-handle you. You’re disobeying,” and the lady simply asked: “why should you rough-handle me? I haven’t… I’m willing to follow you to the security. I know what I’m doing.”
Stonix News gathered that there’s been no any prior notice or rules forbidding the use of skating on campus neither is Professor Wood detailed to apprehend violators of the yet-to-be-ascertained regulation.
The skate board is said to have been bought for N150,000, probable reason Morola Esther Odufuwa wasn’t ready to let it go easily.
It could not also be ascertained whether the lady violated traffic rules when the professor was driving towards her direction or had any collision.
