THE Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo (UniUyo), Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, has urged newly-admitted students of the university to be disciplined as he matriculates 10,148 new intakes.
He said this during the 29th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution which took place at the university’s Main Campus, Nwaniba, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday.
Congratulating the fresh intakes, Prof. Ndaeyo warned the freshmen to shun anti-social behaviour as certificates are awarded only based on good character and learning. and as well as respect for constituted authorities.
Stonix News reports that the 10,148 matriculants were admitted for the 2021/2022 academic session.
Comparing the numbers of 2021/2022 admitted students, the VC noted that there has been a drop of two per cent, compared to that of the 2020/2021 academic year, when 12,193 were admitted to the university.
He further encouraged the new freshmen to be proud of the opportunity to be students of the University of Uyo, which, he said, is now maintaining an enviable position in the comity of Nigerian Universities.
The Acting Registrar of the University, Mr. Linus Okoko, administered the Matriculation Oath to the students, after they were presented by their Deans to the Vice Chancellor who formally admitted them to the full membership of the University.
The 10,148 students were admitted to the 14 Faculties and School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, as well as the Postgraduate School.
Out of the number, 9,339 are full-time undergraduates and postgraduate programmes, while 809 are on part-time programmes.
