UPDATE: ALAAFIN’S TRANSITION: Oyomesi Takes Over Control Of Palace

Sequel to the transition of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III late Friday, the Oyomesi, which is the highest traditional council of the ancient kingdom, has taken over control of the palace.

The media aide of the deceased monarch, Mr Bode Durojaye, disclosed this during a short interview with journalists at the palace.

He said the members of the Oyomesi were currently meeting over the passage of Oba Adeyemi in the palace.

Meanwhile, the Baasamu of Oyo, High Chief Lamidi Oyewale, said traditional rites have been conducted.

He added that Muslim clerics would take over for the Islamic funeral rites.

According to him, the remains of Oba Adeyemi will be interred today Saturday at the ancient vault of Alaafin, located at Bara, in ancient Oyo town.
