A heavy downpour has caused havoc in parts of Ibadan, leaving residents homeless and scampering to safety with their light household items.

Stonix News could not immediately gather the actual cause of the excessive water beside the downpour, a source said some dams were opened overnight.

Parts of the ancient headquarters of Western Nigeria affected by the flood are Oluyole, near 7up, Oke Ayo and Odo-Ona.

Unconfirmed reports say the Oluyole bridge has broken down while residents of the industrial area are seeking alternative routes via Odo Ona to go to work.

It was further gathered that NIHORT bridge was also affected as cars were submerged by the flood.

As a result, heavy vehicular movement pervaded affected parts of the Oyo State capital with places that normally tool four minutes drive taking as much as 45 minutes drive.
