Vigilantes Gun Down One Robbery Suspect

OPERATIVES of a community vigilantes have gunned down a robbery suspect during a robbery operation that occurred on Thursday night at Idi Ahun Elebu via Akala Express, Ibadan, Oyo State.

A resident of the community, who hinted Stonix News on the inducent Friday morning, said the robbers, numbering eight, were armed with weapons including machetes and guns.

Besides, the source said the marauders were also armed with POS machine with which they force victims to produce their ATM cards for transfers.

According to the source, a pastor beside his house, a welder and a lot of people fell victims to the criminals.

Luck, however, ran out of one of the hoodlums after the police allegedly ignored calls by the landlords of the community.

The vigilantes regrouped and went after the robbery suspects, who fled but one was caught in the process and hacked to death.

“Robbers operated overnight, around 1:00a.m and 2:28a.m in our community at Idi Ahun Elebu via Akala Express Ibadan.

“They were eight in number, but only one was killed. They robbed with different types of weapons such as machetes, guns and the like; they also brought PoS machine

“Yes, live, I saw them passed by my window, I sent a message to the secretary of the landlord’s association.

“It was this morning that I learnt that they robbed one pastor, also my welder’s friend and a lot of people with POS machine,” the resident explained.

A video of the incident sighted by our reporter showed a young man in his 20s lying lifeless on the ground with blood stains in his white underwear singlet.

Voices were heard behind the scene suggesting how the stiff remains of the victim world be disposed.

The body of the suspect was reportedly conveyed vis a tricycle to a nearby police station for official notification.

The Oyo State Police Command has not reacted to the incident as of the time of filing the report.
