A yet-to-be-identified man was set ablaze by an angry mob for killing his six-month-old baby at Evwreni Town, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.
In a video shared on Facebook by Warri Aproko, the young man was seen being maimed and set ablaze.
The incident occurred on Monday, thee last day of September 2024.
The killer-father
According to reports, the man hit the baby on the floor several times until the baby breathed its last.
In trying to conceal his evil act, the suspect cut off the leg of a girl who reportedly raised the alarm after witnessing the gory incident.
In a swift action, the mob descended heavily on him, beat him to stupor before finally setting him ablaze.
In reaction to the video, many Facebook users commended the actions of the mob, claiming that it served the man right.
One Kinghames Oruboh commented thus: “Na here jungle justice teh good so. Except the part weh the person weh dem deh accuse no deh the crime scene and no concrete video evidence (merely accusation or allegations), jungle justice deh ok.”
Another user, Betty Butter wrote in Pidgin: “Some people no suppose get children for this life sef
And people out there dey find pikin.”
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, did not respond to calls nor messages sent to his WhatsApp as of the time of filing the report.
