Okowa, Omo-Agege, Oborevwori Felicitate Owhorode of Olomu At 105

Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori have congratulated and rejoiced with the Owhorode of Olomu Kingdom, Richard Layieguen, Ovie Ogoni-Oghoro I, on his 105th birth anniversary. 

The trio issued the felicitate with the oldest monarch in Africa in separate statements made available to journalists by their media aides.

Conveying the message of Okowa, his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, remarked that the monarch had, since ascending the throne, provided purposeful leadership for his people and Urhobo nation.

He pointed out that the monarch’s reign had been very beneficial to his kingdom in particular and Urhobo people in general.

According to the governor, the Olomu monarch has, in the past 34 years on the throne of his ancestors, contributed immensely to the growth and development of his kingdom and the Urhobo people, and therefore, deserves to be celebrated on this special occasion of his birth anniversary.

He said he was joining the royal family, people of Olomu Kingdom at home and in the diaspora and the entire Urhobo nation in celebrating the centenarian monarch.

He described him as a bridge-builder, elder statesman and royal cannon who had attained a great landmark age in his journey of life.

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Omo-Agege, in his message through Yomi Odunuga, his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity,

congratulated Nigeria’s oldest monarch, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Ovie Richard Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro 1, on the occasion of his 105th birthday.

In his congratulatory message to the revered traditional ruler, the Deputy President of the Senate applauded him for his consistency in counselling leaders for peace, recommending the rule of law and encouraging his kinsmen to always work for the larger goal of building one great nation.

Describing him as a quintessential traditional ruler, Senator Omo-Agege prayed that the legacy of peace, harmony, prosperity and steadfast progress which the Olomu Kingdom has witnessed since the monarch’s reign would continue perpetually.

The king, he noted, is an ambassador of unity, development and greatness, not only in Urhobo land and Delta State but in Nigeria, Africa and the whole world.

The Delta Central lawmaker affirmed that the royal father’s forthrightness and maturity had ensured stability and development in his immediate community of Olomu, Urhobo and Delta State in general.

He particularly lauded the royal father for his long-held passion for promoting the virtues of good education, entrepreneurship and good neighbourliness among the youths.

On his part, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Deputy Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt Hon Oborevwori through said the monarch’s contributions to the development of Olomu kingdom and the Urhobo nation would continue to stand out.

Rt Hon Oborevwori affirmed that at the monarch’s age, that he could still read without reading glasses, walk around unaided and still retain his sharp intellect and it can only be attributed to God.

He added that it was a pleasure to celebrate the Owhorode’s exemplary life and his living legacy of service to God and humanity.

The Speaker noted that the reverred royal father has consistently projected the well-being of his subjects and kingdom, working very hard to ensure there is peace and development in his domain.

Rt Hon Oborevwori, who wished the monarch a hearty birthday at 105, prayed for divine health, wisdom and sound mind for the royal father to continue to serve God and humanity.
