AN angry mob on Tuesday set ablaze a middle aged man at Owa-Ekei community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
A witness said the deceased, with his gang member now at large, had allegedly snatched a motorcycle from someone at gunpoint and attempted to flee with it.
Other sources said as the hoodlums were fleeing with their booty, the owner of the motorcycle began to scream for help and bystanders gave the thieves a hot chase.
In the process, the passenger’s seat reportedly fell off from the bike and one of them sitting on it was apprehended by the people at the scene.
Unable to get himself identified, the mob, mostly youths, descended heavily on the suspect with cudgels and any available weapons.
Stonix News gathered that the suspect was beaten to stupor before he was douched with fuel and set ablaze by the irate crowd.
Security agents, who reportedly arrived at the scene late, were said to have made some effort to rescue the victim, but it was rather late.
