THE newly-appointed Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Mr. Festus Ahon, has charged members of his immediate constituency to cultivate the habit of dressing smartly at all times.

He made the plea on assumption of office on Tuesday in Asaba as the new CPS to the new governor of the state.

“As journalists, we should always dress smartly. Your dressing matters a lot.

“You will be addressed the way you dress. You don’t need expensive clothes before you dress clean,” he pleaded.

Mr Ahon also charged members of the Governor’s Press Crew and staff in the Press Unit, Government House, Asaba, to be passionate and committed to their duties.

Speaking at his maiden meeting with the Governor’s Press Crew and members of staff in the Press Unit, which was held at the New Press Centre, Government House, Asaba, the former Vanguard’s correspondent in Asaba, urged them to work as a team in promoting the activities of the state government.

He solicited the co-operation of everybody in the unit towards giving adequate publicity to the policies and programmes of Governor Oborevwori’s administration in the state.

According to him, everybody should collectively work together in the collective drive aimed at promoting the activities of the state government.

“As image-makers, we should promote the activities of the state government and be passionately committed to our job,” Mr. Ahon admonished.

He enjoined them to live above board in the discharge of their duties, while assuring the Press Crew that the two new buses approved for them would be available this week.

His reaction was sequel to his attention being drawn to some of the challenges facing staff in the Press Unit which included lack of efficient operational vehicles and other basic necessities to enhance their work.

He promised to look into some of the issues raised by the crew, adding that the meeting between him and them would be a monthly affair.

Earlier, the Public Relations Officer in the Press Unit, Directorate of Government House and Protocol, Mr. Kingsley Kwubosu had congratulated the new CPS on his appointment.

He had assured him of the unalloyed support and cooperation of members of the governor’s Press Crew and staff in the Press Unit.
