APC VP Slot: Chieftain Of Defunct CPC Emerges Place Holder

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

The All Progressives Congress has submitted the name of former chieftain of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, ( CPC) Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari, as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Stonix News reports that Masari was picked on Thursday night as place holder to meet the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline on submission of names of nominated candidates for 2023 general elections.

A source close to the APC presidential candidate confirmed the development.

The source said that a replacement would be sent to the electoral umpire once the APC presidential candidate and the APC Northern Governors agreed on a favoured candidate.

Masari, a kinsman of incumbent Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari was the National Welfare Secretary under the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led All APC National Working Committee.

The leadership was dissolved in 2020 at an emergency National Working Committee of the party held at the Presidential Villa, where a Caretaker/Extraodinary Convention Planning Committee with Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni was announced.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo were members of the defunct CPC and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), two of the five opposition parties that coalesced to form APC.
