Acute economic hardship had plagued Nigeria, a wealthy nation, since May 2023 after the new government of Presidebt Bola Ahmed Tinubu yanked off the fuel subsidy and the subsequent crash of the Naira against the dollars and other major currencies.

Ugochukwu was found dead at the bank’s branch in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Monday, January 8, 2024.

A source told CKN NEWS that the late Ugochukwu’s lifeless body and a bottle of Sniper insecticide were found in the staff toilet of the branch during a search for her whereabouts after she was discovered missing from her desk.

Stonix News reports that a sniper is a powdery, poisonous pesticide used to ward off or kill insects such as Ants, Bedbugs, Bedbug eggs, Bee, Cockroaches, Flies, Wasps and more.

Besides, it uses Dichlorvos as its active ingredient and it guarantees to kill insect pests on contact and through vapor action.

The source in the know of the suicide said Amarachi “had left her phone on her table, and the phone kept ringing without answer. As a result, her colleagues started looking for her.

“In the cause of searching for her, one of the office toilet doors was noticed to have been locked from behind and was forcefully opened, and behold was her motionless body with an empty medium-sized Snipper bottle suspected to have been taken by her.”

The source further disclosed that the deceased left a note in a diary on her table before she allegedly took her life.

She wrote what was described as a ‘suicide note’ in the said diary, which reads thus:

“My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem right at all; I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore.

“I’m sorry, mom; I am sorry, dad. I’m sorry, Meme, Okwe, Toto Nazor, Chuchu, and Ifunanya. Lord, have mercy on me!”

The management of the branch, upon sighting the deceased on the floor, immediately called a medical doctor who confirmed her dead.

The management thereafter reported to the police in Ikorodu, who swiftly removed the corpse and deposited it at Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy and preservation.

The police is said to have commenced an investigation into the incident, while the deceased’s family has been notified.

She left behind her parents and siblings.
