THE Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Chief Brain Ajuri’ebie Gokpa, has highlighted the importance of recognising the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes and veterans, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and peace.

Speaking at the Armed Forces Remembrance Thanksgiving, Chief Gokpa underlined that many veterans served voluntarily, making it vital to honour their dedication.
Chief Gokpa warned against ignoring the lessons of the Nigerian Civil War, urging citizens to avoid actions that could incite future conflicts.

The chairman also stressed the importance of security, describing it as a collective responsibility.

This year’s memorial event showcased collaboration among security agencies in Eleme.
Chief Gokpa expressed gratitude for their efforts and called for further support from the Nigerian Navy in maintaining security.

Chief Gokpa announced plans to restructure the Eleme Youths Council for better effectiveness and encouraged citizens to remain united.

He also reiterated his support for the Church of the Holy Spirit, Anglican Church, Aleto, which hosted the thanksgiving service.
