ANAMBRA State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, paid tribute to fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, honouring their sacrifices for the nation’s freedom and security.
Speaking at the commemoration on Wednesday at Awka, Soludo lauded the courage and dedication of military personnel and members of the Anambra State Vigilante group, acknowledging their resilience in the face of separation, uncertainty, and loss.

“Today, we gather to honour the memories of our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in defence of our nation,” Soludo stated.
“We remember the brave men and women who have served our nation with distinction and those who continue to serve with valour and dedication.”

He highlighted the security challenges facing Anambra and the nation, urging residents to shun those threatening collective peace.

“As we wage this war against the enemies of our collective peace, we must recognise that they are familiar foes who do not deserve any form of support or cover from us,” he warned.

Soludo emphasised the state’s commitment to robust security measures, including community policing and intelligence-led responses, aimed at fostering a safe and prosperous society.
“Our aim is to create a secure environment that enables our people to live their lives without fear and to pursue their livelihoods with confidence,” he assured.

Calling for public cooperation with security agencies, the governor appealed, “I urge you all to cooperate with our security agencies.
“They are our friends and allies in the quest for peace and security. Let us continue to support them as they work tirelessly to protect us.”
To the families of the fallen heroes, Soludo offered heartfelt gratitude and a promise: “We owe you a debt of gratitude. We will continue to support you and ensure that the sacrifices of your loved ones are not in vain.”
He concluded by urging citizens to emulate the values of courage, loyalty, and patriotism embodied by the fallen heroes, stating, “Let us work towards a more peaceful, prosperous, and secure future for ourselves and for generations to come. May Anambra continue to win!”
